Hi everyone!
We hope all is well with you this springtime.
Taylor
is doing fantastic and he’s enjoying being outside and playing with his friends every day. Cameron just celebrated his 2nd birthday on May 27th, which is the 3 year anniversary of
Taylor
’s diagnosis! We can’t believe it’s been that long already! God is so good! Speaking of anniversaries, Matt and I will be celebrating our 10th on June 29th this year. We have been a couple for almost 17 years, since we were seniors in High School! My parents sent us to beautiful
Lancaster
,
P
A
for a long weekend at Willow Valley Resort in the Amish country as our anniversary gift! We used to go there as a family while I was growing up. It was really cool to be there now as a grown up. The boys had a blast with Grammy and Grandpa while we were gone! It was the first time Matt and I have been able to go away together since
Taylor
was born! We have had quite a turbulent 10 years with health related issues including my heart surgery in 1999, losing our first baby at three months along in 2000, and most significantly,
Taylor
’s tragic illness in 2003. Thankfully, there have been many happy endings and the blessings far outweigh the difficulties. God has truly blessed us in countless ways.
Taylor
hit a milestone on May 25, 2006 when he graduated from Nursery School! It was a very special day for him. Three years ago that week, Matt and I were given the most devastating news of our lives…the day of
Taylor
’s diagnosis. The next day was my niece Brianna’s Nursery School graduation day, also from
Jacksonville
Chapel
Nursery School
. I actually went that day, despite my shock and sadness from the day before. I sat in that pew with
Taylor
on my lap as we listened to all those healthy kids sing songs and receive there diplomas. I remember so vividly that moment when I prayed, “Please God…let him be here for this too! I’ll give anything to see him up there happy and healthy someday!” Well, three years and one day later, there he was up on that stage, diploma in hand, and singing like an angel with all of his friends! Praise God! It was one of the most precious days of my life indeed!
Taylor
will be having his six month scans this month. His PET scan is on 6/20, CT scan is on 6/21, and his MRI is on 6/23. We also got some great news from Dr. Wexler at his check up last month!
Taylor
no longer needs to go in for check ups! He only needs to go for scans from here on out! Also, Dr. Wexler has been quoted in an article in this month’s People magazine (Jume '06)! There is a High School in
Ohio
that has had four students diagnosed with different types of cancer this year alone! One of them, Megan Compton, has Rhabdo. She is also a patient of Dr. Wexler. In his quote he mentions that 1 in 4,000 teens will be diagnosed with cancer! Megan’s cancer has spread and her prognosis is guarded. Please remember her in your prayers as well.
We will let you know how he does after his scans are complete!
We love you all,
Jen, Matt, Taylor, and Cameron
