Taylor's Chemotherapy drugs
V = Vincristine = Oncorin 1.5 mg/m^2 IV push

Vincristine interferes with the ability of cancer cells to multiply and grow

Side Effects: Metallic taste in mouth while being in injected. Mild nausea or loss of appetite. Contipation after a few days. Muscle weakness, tingling in fingers and toes. Loss or thinning of hair after 2 - 3 weeks after treatment.

Note: Stool softeners are usualy needed daily to relieve constipation.

Call doctor if:
1) Have pain, redness, swelling, or blistering near the injection site
2) Have constipation not relieved by laxatives
3) Have persistant tingling or numbness or both in your fingers or toes
4) Have a fever of 100.5 F (38.0 C) or higher
5) Have any questions or concerns
6) Have any unexpected, unexplained problems
D = Dexrazoxane 450 mg/m^2 daily x 2 IV over 15 min. pre-doxo

d = doxorubicin = Adriamycin 45 mg/m^2 daily x 2 IV over 15 min.

Doxorubicin prevents cancer cells from growing by attacking and interfering with DNA, the genetic material in cells.

Side Effects: Iching or hives can occur at the injection site and or along the vein. Nausea and or vomiting can begin 1 to 3 hours after the drug is given and last for up to 48 hours after. Mouth sores can develope within one week after treatment. Blood counts will drop within 10 to 14 days. Damage to the heart muscle can occur after a certian dose level is reached.

Note:

C = Cyclophosphamide = Cytoxan, Neosar, CTX 2100 mg/m^2 daily x 2 IV over 1 hour.

Cyclophosphamide may stop cancer cells from growing by attacking and interfering with DNA, the genetic materials in the cells.

Side Effects: Nasal stuffiness, light headedness, watery eyes, runny nose, or sneezing may occur during injection. Nausea or vomiting may occur 4 - 6 hours after injection and last 24 hours. Blatter irritation in the form of burning on urination or blood in the urine may occur 3 - 7 days after injection. Blood counts will drop.

Note:
m = mesna 2100 mg/m^2 daily x 2 IV over 24 hours.

Etoposide = Vepeside

Ifosfamide = Ifex

G-CSF 5 mcg/kg/day subcut until p-nadir ANC>2500 x 1

Helps increase the White Blood Cell counts
Anti-Nausea Medications

Granisetron (Kytril)

Dexamethasone (Decadron) - side effect = Makes him a little crazy

Hydroxyzine = Visterol (Oral Anti-Nausea) Every 4 - 6 hours
