Hi everyone,
We hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather.
Taylor
loves his Pre-K class and his teacher, Mrs. Gilbert. He’s made lots of new friends and he is learning to write.
Taylor
has also joined Little Lambs, our church’s children’s choir. Sixteen month old Cameron follows his big brother all over the place and he wants to do almost everything
Taylor
does. He’s getting so big! He’s not so much a baby anymore. He has such a cute little personality now. He is very independent and he wants to do everything all by himself. As a family, we are enjoying the last of our “tiki nights” as
Taylor
calls them. During the warm weather months, we go outside on our deck at night and light up our torch lamps that we have placed surrounding the outside of the deck.
Taylor
gets his blanket and pillow, along with a dozen or so stuffed animals, and we all hang out together under the stars. Lately, we have been roasting marshmallows and making s'mores in an outdoor fireplace as well. Our backyard is forest as far as the eye can see, so we get the whole camping experience without leaving the comforts of home. Now that’s my kind of camping!
Taylor
’s check up at MSK went very well last month. He’s all caught up on his immunizations now. He will have labs drawn during his scans in January to make sure that they all took. His weight gain is still slow. In fact, he still weights only 30 pounds, which is what he weighed almost two years ago when he finished treatment! However, he eats well for a four year old and he’s a typical active child, as he should be. He is growing steadily in height, so there is no cause for concern. He’s just going to be long and lean!
I have some interesting, or should I say alarming news. I met someone who’s friends little boy was diagnosed with Rhabdo five years ago. The alarming part is that two other children on his street were diagnosed with Rhabdo that same year as well! They live in
South Carolina
and all of them are healthy and well today from what I hear. Matt and I, along with Isabella’s Parents (she’s the little girl who had Rhabdo and lives a few miles from our house) are still in contact with the
Center
for
Disease Control
and the Dept. of Health. We are working on getting them to conduct a five year study of
North Jersey
. Dr. Wexler had suggested that they do this in order to get a more accurate result of occurrences in our area.
I have more news and a request for prayer. We have been in contact via phone and email with a family in
Illinois
who found our website in July, shortly after their 18 month old daughter was diagnosed with Rhabdo in her right thigh! She is receiving the same treatment plan as
Taylor
and she’s doing very well. We would appreciate it if you would keep little Sydney and her parents in your prayers during the difficult months ahead! Thanks! The link to her website is
Taylor
’s next check up is on November 10th. We’ll let you know how he does soon after his visit.
We love you all, Jen, Matt, Taylor, and Cameron
